Torneos expands regionally and starts operations in Colombia

As part of its regional expansion plan, Torneos opened a subsidiary in Colombia that will participate in the production of CONMEBOL events, Colombian soccer, and will produce more than a thousand hours of original content.


As part of its regional expansion strategy, Torneos, a leading company in the sports entertainment industry, began operations in Colombia, after acquiring 86% of Telecinco, an audiovisual production company based in Medellín.

Torneos will offer a complete range of services in Colombia, including a 360 m2 studio recently opened in Bogotá; offices and production services in Medellin, four mobile units and one satellite unit.

The company will employ nearly 200 collaborators and in the modern facilities in Bogotá, initially one thousand hours of original content will be produced for DIRECTV Sports, D News and WIN Sports. Likewise, it will participate in the production of the Copa CONMEBOL Libertadores, Sudamericana and the Dimayor League of Colombia.

During the opening cocktail held in Bogotá, Darío Werthein, President of VRIO and shareholder of the Werthein Group, stated: “The decision to invest in Colombia is due to the opportunities presented by the Colombian market for the development of new businesses linked to the audiovisual and sports industry, as well as our commitment to the development of the countries of the region through investment in infrastructure, technology and content, respecting local idiosyncrasies and generating quality employment.
